Mid August 2008...Our water level is holding better than it has in a number of years...and the fishing is holding up as well. The previous several years the angling has been damn tough in August, but thankfully that is over. A couple more strong winters and the fish numbers will increase as well...which is just mind blowing.
As for right now...the hopper fishing can be good, great, mediocre...depending on the day and if your boat is in front of most. First fly over the fish usually wins, as you know there are only "X" number of fish that will eat the big fly. Some caddis are around, and the fish are eating a skittering fly most afternoons. The nyphing is per usual off the charts...big fly, small fly, and six feet to your split. Watch the bobber and hit on any movement contrary to the current. They will eat almost anything if presented properly.
